Had a great time today at the PNMYC's "Learn To Sail Your T37" clinic at the Seattle Model Boat Pond next to the Center for Wooden Boats! Not much wind but learned a few tricks and did reasonably well in the few races we had. Also met some new T37 builders. Hopefully they will join us for some racing soon!
The new experimental Star 45x is progressing well. Today I added the final sheer rail lamination, and then went to the T37 clinic. When I got home I added the final two bottom stringers and then spent some time fairing the hull.
To fair the hull I used my random orbital sander with heavy 60 grit paper on it. That paper can really take off the wood so you must be careful! There are a few spots where I took too much off but hopefully I can account for that when I glue on the sides. If I do it correctly you shouldn't be able to see any dips or bumps. Fingers crossed.

Tomorrow I will cut out the sides from 1/16" ply and glue at least one side on. Star 45x rc sailboat, wooden model sailboat, cedar bottom sailboat, wooden sailboat frames, model sailboat, rc sailboat.
Fair seas!
