The first layer of the starboard sheer rail went on today, as did the half-frames.
I am using rubber bands again to hold the first sheer rail in place until the epoxy dries. You can see in the picture how I was able to loop the rubber bands around themselves amidships on the deck side and then around the sheer rail and up over the hull and snapped it into the bottom stringer cutout. It holds fine. I'm using two rubber bands per frame so that I don't over-stretch and over clamp. The two rubber bands are looped through each other to make one long rubber band. It's a very gentle hold that they put on the sheer rail but plenty to hold it securely in place.
Also managed to install the half-frames. Remember that this is the first experimental Star 45x RC sailboat and I'm extending the aft of the boat and making it beamier by only going to frame 8 but stretching the distance between frames 6 - 8. You can sorta see in the picture that I included half-frames 6.5 & 7.5. The sides of them didn't completely hold the side stringers but they contact them enough that I was able to use them. Should help a little bit.
Tomorrow the second layer on the starboard side and the first layer on the port side. After that the bottom stringers and then onto fairing the whole hull, especially the chine logs, to prepare for the sides and bottom planking. Making pretty good progress so far.
Fair winds!
